Frustrated

Hi ladies,
Just wondering have any of you considered writing dads house or mums house on your children’s clothing because it’s not being returned I’m talking underwear and any shirts pants shoes the other parent decides they like. I’m finding is so frustrating having to purchase singlets and underwear every 3-4 weeks I’m at my wits end and just can’t afford for it to continue we regularly ask for clothes back to which we get a response as if I would keep the crap you buy. Mind we only buy brand name because the cheaper ones have something in them that irritates the skin in particular the underwear.

The only thing I can suggest that worked for my sister was sending the kids in 2nd hand clothes. As the kids got older they learnt to be responsible for bringing anything they took hone.

No i think that would affect the child more than it would burden me to buy some cheap jocks every few weeks.
When you do pick up can you do a double check and collect up everything before they leave it there?

I used to send my kids in old clothes that only just fit them, no shoes or socks, so that if it didn’t come back it didn’t matter. I don’t know how it happened, but a few years back it ended up they were coming back in a shirt, jocks and shorts from their fathers place. It gets washed, dried and put aside until the following Sunday afternoon when they get changed to go to their fathers. None of the clothes I buy go over there anymore.

My step kids mum does this too, and it usually causes no problem, I'm sure they have nice clothes at home as we do in our home. The only problem is we often visit my MIL on Sunday arvo as we make our way to dropping kids back to mum and they are always in these dowdy old clothes while everyone else, cousins etc are dressed nicely.

You really don't need to buy brand name stuff just make sure it's made from the material that doesn't cause irritation. I would just buy cheaper stuff that can go to Dad's, keep the good stuff for home.

Precisely. Often the brand name stuff is made from the same materials and in the same factories as the $3 kmart stuff anyway

How old are your kids? If they are old enough to read, can you write a list of the clothes they have taken for their stay at Dad's? Then ask them to check the list off as they pack to come home.
When I was a kid we never left clothes at Dad's, always had our own bag that we put our dirty clothes in and they got washed back at Mum's. Unless it was an extended stay, then obviously it got washed at Dad's. But saved the hassle of forgetting clothes.
Maybe get them a "wet bag".. Can buy them from cloth nappy websites. They have a zipper and kids can pop dirty clothes into that to bring back home.

Otherwise just do the label idea you suggested, there's absolutely no harm in doing that in their clothes that you have purchased. I can understand that it would be expensive for you replacing clothes so often.
