Teenager with oily hair

I have a 12 year daughter who has got really oily hair. After much research I know I have been making her wash her hair too much, making her Hair create more oil because it was being stripped. Does anyone have any recommendations on hair products for teenagers?

Salon quality shampoo and conditioner. The shit in supermarket stuff can contribute to oily hair as a lot nof supermarket stuff has terrible silicone in it.

It's fine to wash 2-3 per times a week. But her best bet, is to wash it twice (in the one sitting), then ONLY condition the mid lengths and ends. Blow drying her hair afterwards and making sure her scalp is dry. Letting hair dry naturally keeps moisture on the scalp. Chances are these few things will stop it from getting oily as quick meaning she doesn't wash as often. Your first shampoo lifts the oil and dirt, second shampoo actually cleanses the hair. So if you don't shampoo twice, you're only lifting the dirt and not actually washing the hair. Make sure it lathers up and has lots of bubbles really well by the second shampoo, other wise do a third. The more bubbles, the more cleansing is done.

If she uses dry shampoo, use that the same day she washes, and each day afterwards. Hair powders/chalk is also great at soaking up oily hair

I've always had oily hair to the point dry shampoo does nothing but gunk up, my mum made me wash my hair everyday. This is the first time I have ever heard this. I am going to give this a try :)

Yes , use dry shampoo in between washes and only let her wash her hair twice a week. Dry shampoo is a God Send , you will wonder why you never tried it sooner. It soaks out all the oils and dries up the roots until the next wash
