Child Support Delays: Employers not releasing payments to CSA.

Child Support Delays: Employers not releasing payments to CSA.

Is anyone having to wait a long time for their Child Support?

It's been over six weeks since child support has been paid. The father of my child changed jobs back in January and advised Child Support (CSA collect from his pay). I've had one payment on the 8th March and nothing since. Early January prior to that. I've called Child Support and they originally said employers had untilthe 7th of the month to release payments to CSA for the month before. Now they are saying they have until the 30th of the month to pay for the month before. My ex's workplace takes the money from his weekly pay and it shows on his pay slip so it's not him not paying. His workplace is not releasing the money. I've told my ex and he's contacted his work to demand they release it but nothing.

Has anyone else had anything similar happen to them and was there anything you were able to do? Prior to this payments were always in every month, no issues.

It’s highly probable the company he works for is having cash flow problems at the moment. Either that or there attention is diverted elsewhere due to the current crisis.
There isn’t a single business that isn’t effected In some way. Wether they be having to totally change there business structure, a massive drop in cash flow, or placing extra safety procedures etc in order to protect everyone..

I know when a company collection takes over it can take a while for it all to pan out and become a regular payment. Im pretty sure child support told me that it could take up to 3 months before it become set and regular each month and that’s to assume the Ex’s pay is set and regular too.

I’m sure the company is doing what they are meant to do even if it is taking a while to get to you..... they have penalties they face if they don’t do the right thing by way of collection to the tune of $2,100, so I don’t think any company will deliberately mess the child support agency around and just not pay them. As some one suggested they might have their attention diverted slightly due to COVID-19.

As frustrating as it is, just hold on a little longer and I’m sure it’ll be okay and you’ll get the child support.

Completely understand that companies are having cash flow problems, but this is his pay - how is that even legal when it's his money, he got his pay and the money taken for child support goes where?? If he didn't have CS to pay he would have the money in his pocket. It's put him into debt with CSA. Does not sound legal at all that they could hold on to CS money like that and not pass it on.

Sounds a bit worrying! Can you get him to ring CSA to dispute his debt as he is paying it, then they should ring the employer to find out where it's going.

CSA won't ring them until after the 30th of the following month. I feel they aren't putting in the correct amount either as his debt is going up and the last payment I got wasn't the correct amount for a month. He will ring them after the 30th.

We are employers, same thing happend to our guy.
No comunication, his ex came down on us.
But...CSA was holding the money.

It didn't help employee and employer relationship.

The dealing with CSA to us was very annoying as we employed a person to do a job, it took an extra hour a week sorting CSA.

Just understand employers just want their work done.
