Getting over cruel comment

Getting over cruel comment

Hi IMS,
I experienced a break up with a long-term boyfriend recently and a cruel thing he said about me gaining weight is stuck in my head.

I like the way I look and I know I’m healthy and can look beautiful but I’m still struggling with both the break up and what he said.

Looking for tips on how to get over this. I don’t want to be so impacted anymore.

Was he perfect? Think of his flaws and use that to discredit his comment in your mind. Back hair? Beer gut? Bad breath? Mummys boy? May as well write it all down and then at the end of it say to yourself, "is that all he had on me, a bit of weight gain? Look what he has going!" My ex still tells people how hairy I am, we were together 12 years and have 4 kids together so that just proves his maturity and I just remind him that not once did it turn him off by wanting me all the time even after we broke up 🤣. Men are very good at pointing out flaws in women when they aren't that good either! If you look up comments made about Barnaby Joyce's ex you will see what I mean, very negative comments by beer bellied, middle aged balding men!
