Learning differiculties

Hi sisters
I really need help or strategies to help with a child who can not concentrate can not read or write and knows she can't read and write and has issues with starting this

Readers are at level one still first page
Which beetle is not the same ?
Second page
This beetle is not the same. It is spotty.

My child can not remember what she just was told can read the the second but when a word is changed she can't read it.
I have had her eyes checked hearing all clear she has autism and we are getting it and speech.
Last year I wanted to hold my girl back a year so she can catch up in her class as she was being graded at a year 1 level when she is in year 3 this year.

I am finding it frustrating my girl seems she does not want to learn and I am being blamed for it by the school by her ssos that work.one on one with her
I have spent hundreds and hundreds on resources like memory games and opposite games like he or she etc and I sit and read to my girl and then we read together but I'm going no where
I have no idea what to do

Just wondering if there's something different I can do I just want my girl to read and write as she is the oldest of four children and my other two children can read and write and understand simple.instructions but my eldest child can't and it's really getting me down

Please help

Has she had a psycho-educational assessment done. Usually completed by an educational pyschologist. Can rule out or in other learning disorders to do with reading, maths and memory.
It sounds like you haven’t got the full picture in regards to your daughter.

The first thing you could do is make a complaint about the person who is blaming you. That is not on. I don't know what an Ssos is but I assume it's an aide? Definitely very wrong to be blaming you.

Second, it sounds like you're getting no help from the school! Most schools would be all over this by now and would have given you resources to help her at home.

Third, scrap the books. Concentrate on words. If she can read any names start with that. You can even make your own word cards with photos. Add in words that are easy and repetitive on every page. I wouldn't do more than 2 or 3 words on each, A photo of your pet could say "here is Tom" and repeat "here is.." on every photo.

Fourth, start getting a bit demanding with the school. Ask them for help and ask to get the ball rolling to at least investigate the possibility of dyslexia etc. They have access to all the resources for this although testing for dyslexia comes with a price tag unfortunately, at least it does in WA. It is worth it in this circumstance! Also have them consider ADHD.

This is not your fault! Sadly sounds like her school has put her into the too hard basket and it's much easier to blame the parent.

Ask your GP for a referral to a Developmental Paediatrician who can work out whether thete's anything going on from a developmental perspective and refer you to a Psychologist for testing.

Our boy has a Visual Processing Disorder, and Phonological Dyslexia.

He simply cannot read, but has a very high IQ and 19:20 vision.

Without the 4hrs a week tutoring he has received over the past 3 years he still would not be able to read.

He has had so much help, he can now read enough that he could function in an adult world, but not fluently.

Give SPELD a call they might be able to help

Sub titles on the TV have been his best help at home

This sound just like my son.
I noticed back in pre primary that he wasn't up to the level he should be. In year 1 which was last year he had an assessment done by the school psych. She said he does have learning difficulties but she can't diagnose him but could possibly be something like adhd and dyslexia. He was referred to the child development centre to see a paediatrian, OT and speech therapist. He finally got to see the OT and speech just over the last few weeks. He has issues with recall and a couple of sounds. He can't read at all and dosnt know all his letter yet. He is 7.5yrs old in year 2. The school is doing up an IEP. I did call the dyslexia speld foundation but for a assessment with them was going to cost over $1000. The school psych said even if he was diagnosed its nit going to change how the school will help him, they know he has learning difficulties so he will need a IEP every term.
