Menopause at 40

Has anyone experienced surgically induced menopause?
I turned 40 this year, and this option (full hystetectomy inc ovaries) is looking like a real possibility in my near future.
BAM menopause, no build up! I'm terrified.
My specialist has explained pros/cons, with Cons being pretty horrific for a while- esp if they can't manage those.....
I'd love to hear some real life experiences.

I had unexpected full hysterectomy 2.5yrs as go.
I was offered HRT which I initially trialled but I decided against it. I reacted to the patches and have issues taking tablets, let alone daily forever.
I do get odd hot flushes but I thought they'd be worse than they actuslly are.
I find my biggest 'issue' is vaginal dryness but I just keep a supply of KY. I use it daily, not just for sex. The dryness causes itchiness if I don't.
