New born hospital bag..

What do i pack for baby.. its likely baby will be smaller than bigger, but who knows really.

5 0s , 4 0s or 3 0s

How many of each..

Do i just stick to a blanket, a beanie, a pair of socks or two and mittens and onsies? A going home outfit and thats it?

Nappies are on the list, hoping to breast feed..

I think 00000 and 0000 and they'll do and will probably be right. 3 of each. If you need anything else someone will be able to get them. Wipes. Bags for dirty clothes. Yes keep it simple, try not to stress you'll probably have someone who can bring and take things as you need them if you stay longer. A few cloths for spew rags.
Don't forget nice things for yourself. Lip balm, hairbrush, toothbrush, knickers and pads. Snacks. I would get the thickest lanolin nipple cream (lansinoh) and nipple shields (soft silicon ones) cold compresses (multi-mums) and breast pads too, just to be prepared from the start.

I’ve just packed my hospital bag and this is what I took (c section) for a 5 day stay:

- 6 zip suits 0000
- 6 singlet snap suits 0000
- 6 pairs of socks
- 2 pairs mitten (suits have them built in anyways)
- 2 love to dream swaddles
- 2 Muslin wraps
- 2 dummies
- 1 pack huggies
- 2 packs wipes

My hospital has a nursing home that knits for them so they get a special knitted beanie so I didn’t pack any :)

My son skipped 0000 and went straight to 000, this baby is apparently bigger than he was however I’m still taking 0000 and if need be my husband can bring 000 in. We didn’t bother with going home outfits we found anything other than a zip suit inconvenient when so little

0000s is a good bet for a smaller bub. 00000s is generally more premmie sized. My 10 pounder just fit in 000s, and my 7 and 8 pounders were comfortable in 000s.

You'll need at least 6 suits and 6 singlets - you'll be amazed how dirty new born babies can get lol. They spit up on themselves, have nappy leaks, you name it!
1 beanie will be plenty but I'd take a few light blankets to swaddle (for the same reason above).

Wipes, wipes and more wipes!
Vasoline for bubs bottom too, their first poos are like tar and so hard to wipe off, a little Vasoline makes that job a tad easier.

Mittens or suits with fold down sleeves can be handy too, their nails can be quite sharp and they tend to scratch at their faces.

My hospital supplied disposable bottles, we just had to bring our own pumps or formula etc if we wanted to.

For yourself.
At least 10 pairs of undies, I'd suggest just cheapies that you wouldn't care about needing to throw out. Comfy pants, singlets, socks and slippers and a cardigan or robe to throw on when you're feeding (even in summer, hospitals can be chilly, especially at night).

Don't bother with 000 or 00000. My eldest was only 2.5kg or roughly 5 and a half pounds and 0000 were all I had. Just don't pack onesies and you won't notice if it's a little too big. If Bub is small then 000 will be a month or so away. If you only need clothes for going home I would pack 3 outfits, 2 blankets, 1 beanie and 2 pairs of socks and mittens.
