Endometriosis. Diagnosed at 36 :( Your tips please...

So I've always been super fit, healthy and active, until the past 6 months I have had ongoing excruciating pain. Due to light periods my whole life, they ruled out endo and I was on NINE lots of antibiotics, getting passed dr to dr thinking I had an infection.

Eventually I was put under for a laparoscopy and hysteroscopy and it was shown I definitely have endometriosis. I was on the pill 10 years, then pregnant straight after, so those 11 years were masked by that. I remember my son was 3 months old and this major sharp pain started. It was on and off over the past 9 years, until the past 6 months where it was non stop.

Now I'm thinking as I"ve been athlete fit my whole life until this year, has that helped masked my symptoms too? I'm worried where to from here, as my health has been so bad this year I haven't been my usual freaky fit self (exercise 10-14 times a week prior to this year). What can I do? Hormonal birth control that's suggested sends me crazy, weight gain and 24/7 moods so I don't even feel like it's an option. I'm finally at a point I've met someone nice and would like kids in the next couple years, so hysterectomy isn't an option.

Please help as this was something both my surgeon and I were certain I didn't have, so were very surprised with the findings. Where to from here? :(

Unfortunately theres not a lot you can do for endo.
I was on birth control for years to help mewith mine and hated it, so i stopped it.
Look into your diet. Theres a recommended diet for endo.
I found changing my diet has helped a lot. Its mostly fatigue that kills me now during my period.
Have a look on endometriosis web pages, there is a fair bit of info on there.

My sister has endo. She has just had a hysterectomy. Keeping her weight impossibly low did help but not maintainable long term and caused other health issues.
Hormonal therapies did take the edge off for a while.
A D&C gave very temporary relief, the first time (a couple of months).
Unfortunately as she got older her symptoms became worse.
You will want to research endo and pregnancy, very carefully. I’d be going to a gyno with a big list of questions. A lot will depend on the level/phase of endo you have.

Please understand that a hysterectomy is not a cure for endometriosis. Highly recommend trying the mirena after having laparoscopy (needs proper excision if it wasn’t addressed). Mirena
doesn’t suit everyone but is worth a try. In terms of coping with the pain, I use nuromol and at the first sign of mild pain. For intense pain that tablets aren’t working for, have a hot bath and use dōTERRA ice blue rub after. It’s warming and an absolute life saver 🙏
