Fertility

Hi ladies,
Unfortunately it’s coming to the point my husband and I might have to get help for fertility issues. We have decided we do not want to do ivf however we would like to explore other options. So my question is do we seek a gyono or a obgyn or go directly to a ivf clinic.
We both have children from previous relationships so we don’t think it’s an infertility issue as such but we are both older.
My doctor is not being overly helpful at this point saying come back each month and pushing for ivf if need be and not really giving me options I don’t think she really knows the process
Any help would be appreciated.
We are currently tracking ovulation which for some reason does not seem to be working. I have reasonably regular periods normally 27-29 day cycles but ovulation tracking keeps coming up negative.
Please ladies I need your wisdom
Thank you

IVF is pretty easy in the long term, you take meds, you grow eggs, they take them out, he dumps his junk into a cup they mix it together and depending on how they go 3-5 days later they put an embryo back in, providing you don’t get OHHS,
There’s IUI where they inject you with his semen at the right possible time, there’s mini ivf now (no idea what it entails) there’s many option over IVF.

Just becasue you both have had previously had children with other people you cannot rule out secondary infertility. You need to get your AMH levels checked and be his swimmers (make sure he hasn’t had a vasectomy, it’s been done before). A Fertility specialist is the person you want to see because they can arrange all the tests you need. They’re also the people who deal with IVF. They’ll check your tubes, how many eggs and how his sperm is performing to see if they are able to actually make it to the eggs.

I used to ovulate the day after my period finished. We’re not all regular. Even if we think we are.

Good luck!!

Try taking Clomid.

I would seek out a referral to an IVF clinic, they generally don't just jump straight into IVF - they find out why you aren't conceiving. We went through Melbourne IVF and the process was quite simple. Started off with a quick scan in the office which confirmed I had PCOS, both hubby and I had blood tests which both came back normal. I then had fortnightly follicle scans to check egg growth and blood tests to confirm ovulation (I also got negative ovulation tests all the time). Husband had his sperm tested in the meantime and "problem" was confirmed to be me. Began Clomid and progesterone & aspirin. No success to begin with so pursued IVF however conceived naturally prior to egg retrieval so wasn't able to retrieve eggs :D

There's also IUI as opposed to IVF which you can do - they directly insert sperm into your uterus rather than IVF where the procedure is much more involved.

Go and see an OB/GYN, it might take something simple like clomid after ovulation blood tests.

If you're not ovulating that could be the issue. I was referred by my doctor to a gyno that specialised in fertility issues. I was put on Clomid a drug to help me ovulate, tracked it and managed to get pregnant the first time fairly quickly, the 2md time after 5 or so months. Tried for 2 years before seeing anyone to start with. See another doctor to get a referral if you're isn't being helpful. Best of luck!
