This used to be me.

Now I have a place for everything and everything goes back where it belongs.

It’s hard to start and develop new habits. I started small. A place for my keys, and handbag, in an obvious place. On my hall table. It was an easy one because I just need to dump my bag and keys as I come in.

Then I slowly went through the house and grouped like with like. For example I keep the kids swimming stuff in individual swimming bags on hook in there rooms. That’s where they always go.

I’ve labelled drawers so I remember where everything goes and I don’t put something somewhere different.

We also do 10 minute tidy up before dinner. Homework back in school bags, incidental things out where they belong. Things we need for the morning are grouped together the night before.

It was a bit of work at the start but things run really smoothly now, I’m less stressed and we have a lot more free time cause we aren’t looking for lost things.

Lists

I am a crazy list lady.
I write everything down or have everything on notes on my phone.

A monthly calendar stuck up somewhere you see a lot, kitchen, lounge. Use it for everything. Check it weekly and nightly. Prepare for the week on sunday.
Pack and prepare for the next day each night.
Have bags packed and ready to go at the door. Or a check list as there are so many things to remember with getting yourself and kids out the door.
Set appts and alarms on your phone for the day before or morning of, to triple remind yourself.
Get up with enough time. When I'm rushing I'm stressed and late and guaranteed I've forgotten things. When I start early I end up still only just on time most days because that's life getting kids ready, but with every thing I need done and ready so not flustered.

I have ADHD and so if I don’t put strategies in place it gets very tricky! I’m happy to share some:
Meal plan - I use a weekly dinner plan and use a slow cooker a lot. I also prepack lunches if mornings are hectic.
Wunderlist app - I make to do lists on here and date items if needed.
Out of milk app - I have a shopping list on here pretyped and just change the tally needed for the items each week.
Reminders app - I use this for weekly or forthrightly or monthly reminders of things to keep track of.
Items station - I have shelves near my door to put things I need to take before I leave the house.
Pictures on phone - I have a folder of pictures on my phone to screenshot anything I need to.
Filing station - I keep all things I need here and a place to dump things to be sorted.
Google Calendar - for all apts and events
I hope that helps. It took me ages to get myself in order so be kind to yourself and start with one thing at a time and do small steps that you can achieve over a decent amount of time to achieve them. Good luck!
