Hi I’m just looking at a potential house in Bannockburn near Geelong. I’m wondering if anyone lives there? And can tell me what it’s like, if the school is good? Local people? I have been there a few times and really love it. But it’s just a big move and a bit scary moving somewhere you don’t know. Thanks in advance xx

All my cousins live in Geelong and it’s surrounds . They are always saying how violent and drug infested that place is , people are often afraid to leave their homes . Good luck .
If you can go a bit further to Torquay, much nicer area.
Whoever wrote that about Geelong and people being scared to leave their home must have relatives in the rougher areas such as Corio or Norlane.
We love this area. Great schools and I've not once been scared leaving my home.
Bannokburn is about 30 minutes Ballarat side of Geelong. I know a few people living there and LOVE it. It still has the country living vibe while being close to all the major towns.
The new school in Bannokburn is p - 12. It is new. Just opened so may have some teething issues but from what I've heard it's off to a great start.
I'm not in Bannokburn but I would happily live there!!
I've never been scared where we live in Geelong either! We know all the neighbors, the kids play in the street & I walk the dog at night!! We love our area too.
I have lived in the Geelong suburbs for 18 years, & it is great. It's also affordable, everything is easy to get to, whether that's shops, the coast or Melbourne. Bannockburn has seen huge growth in the last 15years. We have friends with kids living there & they love it. Any of the Geelong suburbs along the ring road, down to Armstrong Creek & Torquay have seen huge growth. Lots of new infrastructure & families to the area are keen to meet new friends. Drugs & crime are everywhere, but what you see of Geelong on TV is not representative of the whole area.
