Zuppa Toscana. Easy and tasty, I barstardise it with Turkey sausages.
For picky kids? For general meal planning? Easy to freeze for lunches?
Get Jamie Oliver’s cook book I’m using the 5 ingredients one at the moment and loving the recipes. They’re easy to follow, quick to cook and yummy. You can also add things to your taste
I make up a big batch of mince each week and then turn it into spaghetti, lasagne, Chili con carne, taco/nacho mince. Also do up big batches of white sauce (bechamel sauce) to make the lasagne, Mac n cheese, chicken supreme, tuna mornay, and cheesy bacon parcles in puff pastry.
You can bulk out the mince with grated carrot, celery, broccoli, pumpkin etc. And you can also puree some cauliflower into the white sauce. Both of these recipes freeze well until needed to create a quick easy meal in under half an hour.
We also do things like home made pizza and chicken salad wraps for variety. Add to this sandwiches for lunch, fruit for snack and home made biscuits or cake for afternoon tea and cereal for breakfast, we have got our weekly food budget down to less than $200 per week (because that also includes other household items such as pull-ups for two kids) for our family of 6.
