Took drugs

16 months ago i was going through a really bad time, i tried to end my life and i was a complete wreck of a person. i smoked meth. 24 hours later i drove my car and was tested, test came up positive. I was so ashamed, i never thought it would still be in my system since i had slept for 8 hours and eaten. From that day i have not touched any drug or alcohol (except cigarettes) i guess it was the wake up call i needed.

Since this awful time of my life i am clean, I am happy and i work with vulnerable people in the community. I am very good at this job, i add value to lives.

I’m so worried about my police clearance which is needing to be renewed soon. I did not go to court for my stupid mistake, all i got was a fine in the mail (i was very lucky) i didn’t lose my license at all.

I’ve been trying to find out whether this fine will show up on my police clearance, and if it would state meth as the reason for the fine?

please no negative comment, I understand the gravity of what i did 16 months ago.... i changed my whole life and will never make the same mistake.

Your supposed to contact the police check thing as soon as something like that happens

And of course the drug would have been in your system after sleeping and eating! Load of crap you thinking it wouldn’t be

No need to be so rude.

I’m being blunt - drugs stay in your system for months sometimes. I’m sorry but that’s just stupid if you think it would be gone after eating and sleeping

I don’t think you’ll get your police check renewed

Depends if classes as a criminal offence. Probably is and will state the description of the offence which will be on your fine.
Let’s face it, it probably wasn’t the first time you drove under the influence so think yourself lucky it’s only a fine you might have to explain and not someone’s death.

Please don’t presume anything.

Not presuming anything. You told us you got in the car under the influence of meth drove and put every other road user at risk and you want to give us some sorry story about how your worried it will show up. I’d rather explain that than explain to some dead kids parents why I thought driving under the influence was ok.

No, it will not show on a Police Clearance.

What makes you say that? My ex was driving with thc in his system and it shows on his police check.

It most likely will I'm afraid. My partner got a fine for having an open can of beer in a public place.

It showed up on his police check as a fine for prohibited consumption of alcohol in public.

It really says something about our justice system that a person can get away with a mere fine for driving under the influence of amphetamines, not that that's your fault OP and im glad you're in a better place but God, where is the deterrent?!

https://www.miningpeople.com.au/news/what-will-and-wont-show-up-on-my-po... drug driving charges will show. You were probably legally obligated to advise your employer when it happened. I would tell them immediately or resign and look for employment that doesn't require a police check.

WOW, some people on here are nasty. If you have nothing nice to say don't bother saying it. We are all here learning, and not everyone is perfect. No one has any right to judge another for their mistakes. Whilst I do not condone drug use or driving under the influence people do silly things, and thankfully this OP has learnt their lesson and no harm was done to anyone.

OP I am glad to hear you have got yourself off the shit. Good luck with your future, we all deserve chances to do right.

I believe it will show up, but best to contact your local police to find out. Hopefully you are not judged so harshly by your employer.
