Fertility, pregnancy and (peri)menopause

We have recently decided to try for our second baby. I stopped the pill beginning of October and so far, no periods. On the day that my period where “supposed” to come (based on the pill) I had my “usual” cramps that usually announce my period are starting. But … nothing. Around 3 weeks ago I started to get hot flushes. I thought that maybe I could’ve been pregnant. I did a pregnancy test a week after my supposed period day but it’s negative. I went to the doctor who said we couldn’t do much until after 2 months of missed period due to the hormones getting back to “normal” after taking the pill. I’m stressing out and can’t think of anything else then early menopause. With hindsight my period “flow” reduced whilst on the pill, I’m “dry”, I haven’t slept very (probably due to worry) but had a week of waking up 3 times at the same time. I know the pill can “hide” perimenopause symptoms. I don’t know what to do. Take another pregnancy test and hoping that I’m pregnant. I’m only 37 years old. Have we missed the boat? I know there is a chance through IVF to get pregnant during perimenopause. Anyone has any “success” stories? I haven’t stop thinking about it and have cried most days.

I would do another pregnancy test. I had hot flushes when I was pregnant well before it showed on a test. Xx

Woah - I think you're jumping the gun just a bit. Like your doctor said, it takes a while for your hormones to get back to normal. Each time I've stopped to have another baby it seems to take a little bit longer each time and are quite irregular for the first few months. You could also be very early stages of pregnancy depending when your cycle started. Just give it some time - hopefully all of this worry is for nothing x

I know it feels a bit hasty to jump to conclusions. My period very regular. Before the pill and when we were preparing for baby number 1. I feel I have a lot of menopause signs which I never had before 😔

It can take a good 6-12 months for the pill to fully clear ur system! Give it time and relax coz worry sure wont help anything. Good luck!
