Do they have a fee? If so, open a fee free bank account with good interest and put money in that each week instead
I looked into one of these not long ago. Everything you require to book your holiday needs to be fully refundable from the original supplier. For example if your flights can not be refunded, it will not be covered by the layaway provider. At the time, I could not find a single flight provider that gives refunds on their air fares. Same with your accomodation, you need to be sure the hotel will give you back 100% of the cost if you are to cancel.
Jetstar now do afterpay for domestic and some international airfares. No fees, just the total amount split over 4 payments.
In regards to the accomodation, try booking.com. There are a lot of places that will let you book without a deposit, cancellation is free and you pay nothing until arrival. Allowing you to save the money required leading up to the holiday.
I use my Layby, I Layby jetstar vouchers and when a sale comes up I book cheap flights with the vouchers. It would be much cheaper to do it this way. I often book Bali packages when it’s on sale. Check out my Layby and book your holiday yourself. I also use 1cover for travel insurance. You can do holidays yourself cheap if you get the right specials.
