How do I help my baby adjust to daycare?

Hi Mamas,
I was wondering if anyone has any tips or techniques for helping a baby adjust to daycare. My 10 month old has been going to a family day carer 3 days a week for the last 3 weeks(since I started back at work) and at the moment it just isn’t working. Before she started, we did a few short sessions, some with me there and some without. The first proper week went great, but last week and this week (especially this week!) has been a bit of a disaster with us needing to pick her up early twice. She’s also working on 4 of her top teeth which doesn’t help! She takes her comfort toy with her. Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, as I’ve been told by the carer that she doesn’t settle in the next 2 weeks then I’ll need to find alternative care!

Maybe alternative care would be a good thing?
Don't ever be scared of changing.
To be honest most kids settle after you leave, so for her to be that upset I would think shes either sick (you might need to stay home with her and dose her up on panadol if shes that miserable from teething) or its due to the care shes receiving/environment where she is.

Im actually a bit surprised by your carers attitude. It does usually take a little while after the first week to settle in (first week of not knowing whats happening then they know whats coming ie mum leaving). With that attidude I would be inclined to change care.

New carer possibly 😬 I honestly wonder if your better at a centre based care? I only say that as family daycare providers while brilliant there is only one of them. In a centre environment the staff have some respite and to f your daughter needs cuddling all day they will have the resources to do that in the family daycare it’s 1:4 I absolutely couldn’t cope with 4 kids under 5

Thanks lovelies. I think the main reason the carer has issues with it is that her own kids are starting to complain - they only see her outside of school hours, but are getting annoyed!

I would probably consider alternative care now, the carer has already made it clear that she can't offer what your baby needs right now, so to me that indicates it's not a great fit.
