Moving to Perth

There is a high possibility that my husband will be transferred to Perth at the start of next year for two years. I have never been to Perth myself, however have heard great things about it. I am excited and willing to move but have no idea about what suburbs are great to live in for a family (3 children, 7, 4 and 1) and what schools and Kindy's people would recommend for my two older children. Also looking for affordability in rental properties (max $550, happy to live in a town house), we will rent out our property in Brisbane, but know that the rent will not cover our mortgage. Since I will not work for sometime (I am currently working part time, but am wanting to focus on the kids settling into school and know it may take a little time to find part time work in my field in a new place!) we are looking to reduce costs if we can by living in an area where rent is not too high, but still a great place for a family? Thank you in advance for all your suggestions!

I live in Perth, I live about 40 minutes from the city. We have a mortgage but very easily to get 4x2 houses for around 350-400 a week!

I’m from Brisbane & moved to Perth for 2 years. We lived in joondalup & it was a lovely area. Close to the beach & there is a train line if you need to get to the city (much easier & quicker than driving). I don’t know about school though sorry.

The biggest thing you need to consider in Perth is commuting. We are a loonnngg city from north to south, so you (or hubby) can be commuting up to 2 hours depending on traffic. We have great, cheap and reliable public transport, with train stations as far north as Butler (a 35-40 min train ride to the city), and south in Mandurah (about 50 minutes I think).
Good and bad about all areas, but I live in the far northern suburbs and love it. Close to the beach, amazing schools and good shops. Your budget is going to get you a nice house in a good area.
When all is said and done, Perth is a great city to live. May be a bit priceier than you're used to, but it's still good.
