The turning point.....

What made you finally stick to the plan that helped you lose the weight once and for all?
I am morbidly obese at around 160kilos I have no idea even where to start anymore.
Like many others I have tried everything and although I do great for a while I seem to constantly quit. I have no idea what to do anymore and I feel like everyone around me is sick of me "starting" over and over again.
I recently was eating low carb which worked great but the cooking side of things really took it's toll and in the end I just get tired and give up. Duromine worked years ago but because I have overcome an addiction to Ice in the past it's not a feeling I like or can handle.
I work full time, study and have kiddos which I know is an excuse.
I don't know I guess I just need some inspiration to get me out of this rut and a way to lose this weight once and for all because I'm sick of it holding me back!
Thanks for any advice.

I'm sure you would qualify for surgery? See your doctor!

Look up 16:8 fasting and 5:2 ok Facebook group. So it’s basically eating within 8 hours each day and high fat/low carb. Easy to stick to and weight loss is great! I too have tried everything and know how hard it can be but worth a go! Wishing you all the best Mumma

You have to want it, I found weight watchers is great. You have to weigh in every week, which kept me on track, they have loads of recipes that are normal food just made bette root you, and after a month or 2 you find it’s leas about weighing food etc and you start to get into the groove of a new normal. TBH at your weight I would also not suggest the gym unless you get a plan written, maybe just walking or a PT that can customise a plan that works for you without putting you at injury risk. Just start it’s scary and makes you vulnerable but you are worth it

Don't go on a diet. Make a few lifestyle changes.

Substitute for better foods. Swap snacks for healthy options.
If you have a slip up, acknowledge it and get back to the lifestyle you want.

Don't be so hard on yourself. Everyone slips up. You just need to remind yourself about why you're doing it.

It is all about energy/energy out. I use My Fitness Pal and log what I eat and I ran everything. It is easy to look back and think I don’t eat much but it is hard to deny it when I look at my logs. My daily Kilojoule budget is around 6000kj. I don’t log my activity and exercise because it is easy to overestimate how you burn. Paleo, Keto, low carb are all fads that only work if you take in less energy than you burn. It is a budget and you can choose to spend your kilojoules however you like as long as you stick to your limit. I have lost 30kg and kept it off for 5 years now.

Yep so I was 160kg at my highest in Oct 2016. Had gastric sleeve surgery in May 2017 and now weigh 115kg. Once the quick weight loss slows down it’s a hard slog. So definitely a tool that helps not a magic solution. But it certainly does help. I can fit in a plane seat again and keep up with my 6yr old. Lots of soul searching, some drug addiction, and tons of different diets and exercise regimes along the way. Nothing curbed my food addiction.
If you have a food addiction I reckon the surgery is brilliant. While you’re working through the addiction you just physically can’t overeat. It’s great.
All up I think I was out of pocket about $3,800 with my private health insurance.
No side effects and I can eat whatever I want. Just no more than a cup at a time.
Couldn’t recommend it enough.
Best of luck to you.

When you say Low carb do mean just low carb? Or did you do lchf (low carb high fat) which btw is awesome! the cooking side doesn’t have to be tiring though, you just have to be organised. And keep it simple , I’ve lost heaps doing lchf . And the other side effects are great too, no more pain, stable moods and energy. I’ll never go back to grains and sugar. You have to want to do it and educate yourself, read everything you can (professor Noakes has so much research) after doing lchf for a while you’ll naturally start to fast, and you’ll start to notice the change in your body shape. I’ve tried every other bullshit diet... Lchf is not a diet it’s a way of life . You can do it!

Hello, have you had a body scan done to tell you important information like your fat levels and in particular your visceral fat? I had one and it was really shocking the visceral fat I have and the trainer explained the dangers of it being that high and also how hard it is to remove as you age and health ailments begin. I also order you foodz which is healthy but delicious and it has really helped. I began going to the gym to do their HIIT program which has meant I haven’t had to go and do my own workouts, I’m in and out in 45 min and it has made the world of difference. I go in the morning before work and helps my mood and energy before work. Also consider perhaps a gastric surgery at that size? Remember your health will affect your kids and a healthy lifestyle as opposed to a diet should just be easy.
