“When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives mean the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand. The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing and face with us the reality of our powerlessness, that is a friend who cares.” – Henri Noumen

“A friend is one that knows you as you are, understands where you have been, accepts what you have become, and still, gently allows you to grow.”

― William Shakespeare

I know it says girls weekend away but I would take my husband. We need a break - from the everyday grind of life, from being so darn busy all the time, from not having time to talk to each other... and yes from our kids who we adore but who also take a toll on or relationship at times. xo Carolyn A

i would take my best friend terese with me for a weekend away as she has 2 kids and never gets time to herself and im pregnant with only 11 weeks to go so it would be a great time for me to relax for the weekend as renos on the house and working 6 days a week is getting abit much for me at the moment. and we both hardly ever see each other so it would be the best catch up for us both before bubs comes along.

I would love to win this for my precious daughter who has given me a reason to live through 30 years of an abusive marriage and who has been my rock and my anchor in the 2.5 years since he walked away. I broke with the pain and Sam has picked me up no matter how many times I fall. She has coped so admirably with so many changes to her life and I am so very proud of her. Tomorrow is her 30th birthday and she hasn't had any time to herself in so long that I would love to surprise her with this. I would like her friend whose baby boy was diagnosed with leukaemia at only 9 months to go with her. I nearly always read Megan's blog ( at
http://diaryofacancermum.wordp... )
with tears streaming down my face. I am in awe of my daughter's and Megan’s
willingness to forgive others who don’t understand all the hurt they are dealing
with and of their seemingly endless capacity to love without measure.

If I won I would take my Mum. Yes my Mum. As cheesy as it sounds my Mum is one of my best friends. Whether it's for a chat, advice, love or support, she has always been there for me when I have needed her and I know she always will. She is an inspirational person, raising 7 kids mostly on her own. Now that I have my own child I appreciate even more how special our friendship truly is. My life is much more busy now than it used to be, and I would love the opportunity to spend a whole weekend doing girly things with her. She is also having a major operation this week that will require some time to recover from, and being a single mum with 4 kids still at home I know she would love a rare, relaxing weekend away.

I would bring my mum! 8 Weeks ago my beautiful sister was diagnosed with Leukaemia and passed away just 5 days later at the young age of 23. Rebecca was so full of life and never had a chance to fight this horrible disease. The last 8 weeks have been tough, but through our families grief we signed up for the Worlds Greatest Shave and raised just short of $50000 for the Leukaemia foundation in Rebecca's memory. It was so hard to lose my sister and best friend but so much harder to see my mums heartbreak of losing a child. I would love to cheer my mum up, spend some quality time with her and see a smile back on her face :)

I would bring my bestie Karen, I owe her so much, she helped me with my mum who had Alzheimer's and went well beyond anything I would expect anyone to do. Mum would have horrendous accidents with toileting and Karen would roll up her sleeves and just help me clean up mum and everything else. she was and is my rock.
