Tonsillitis and tonsillectomy

Has anyone here had ongoing tonsillitis to the point of getting them removed? My doctor has recommend I get them removed due to ongoing infections and I'm looking for pros and construction either way.
Also if anyone has some ideas for what I can eat until the antibiotics kick in and the swelling goes down, I haven't eaten properly in 3 days :(

I have never met someone who regretted getting their tonsils removed! I think that says enough. My sons health improved heaps after getting his out, his were also causing sleep apnea so there was a huge difference. Try cold foods and easy to eat foods. Smoothies? I know they recommend toast and coarse food to drag the mucus down but its painful to eat that kind of stuff. Easy for other people to tell you what to eat 😂.

I had them out at 18 and I was so much better for it! I was getting tonsilitis every month. I was having more sick days than healthy ones. Get them out!

Gargle salty water and if the dr says to remove them do it (they don’t suggest surgery lightly)

I got my tonsils out at 21 and it was the best decision I ever made. My specialist said he couldn’t believe they waited so long to refer me to the ENT. My tonsils were a grade 3 on a good day with no infection, in the end every time I got tonsillitis (minimum 8 times a year) I had to get IV antibiotics because oral antibiotics just stopped working after taking them so often. I had them BAD for about 8 years.

As for now while you can’t eat, get some pain stop from your local chemist and gargle it before swallowing, it usually takes the pain away for a bit so you can swallow without feeling like you’re swallowing razor blades. Also gargle salt water to try and kill the infection quicker. Cold food is so much easier! Ice blocks and cold drinks, seems to numb it. But they actually recommend hot food and drinks as warm/hot will kill infection.
