My sister lived there and so did a friend. The daycare wait lists are years long and both had to quit permanent jobs because after the maximum time they could take for maternity leave (2 years) they still hadn't got a place. If you will need this, you should look into it. This is about 3 years ago so it may have improved

The Gladstone boom is over now so daycare waits aren't so bad anymore.

Gladstone is cheap nowadays so that can bring undesirables sadly. Barney Point, Toolooa, up town around Tank street/Auckland St.. around Pashley street Clinton are more occupied by the lower ecio-social community. But in saying that, many great decent ppl also live in these areas too. Calliope, Tannum Sands, Boyne Island are 20mins away and are fantastic. Kirkwood, Seaview Heights, West, Kin Kora are nice Gladstone suburbs.

South and Central schools are little, under 300.. West, Kin Kora, Clinton are big schools, 800 plus. Both public stare scoffs are huge.
Calliope is getting a high school in 2yrs. Tannum has a high school and there are primary schools out there also. All these schools have good names.
