Hairy situation

Hi IM’s. I have a problem that’s been going on for over five years. It’s a facial hair problem. Please bare with me. So I had a few stray hairs that were fine that I plucked they were a light brown colour. I had about maybe 11 or 12 on either side of my chin. I wanted a permanent solution so I looked up and researched electrolysis and laser. I decided to have electrolysis done as I heard firsthand that laser could affect the fine hairs and make them worse. I saw an electrologist with 12 years experience who had it done for herself but I felt
like it was getting somewhat worse and that it was taking too long. Two years in to my treatment I decided to see another electrologist. When I told her I’ve had over fifty treatments in this area she was shocked to say the least. Anyway fast forward another two years and I feel as if it’s getting worse and not better the hairs are thick and coarse and darker. I have no hormonal problems. No PCOS and I’m still quite young only 25. It could possibly be genetic but from what I’ve read and been told by many electrologists is that it is a permanent method for everyone. I’m no longer able to look at myself in the mirror as I feel like I’m a man. Those around me claim that it’s not as bad as I think but I can’t help but be hurt and depressed by this. It’s made my confidence drop dramatically. I’d like to hear from those who’ve had electrolysis done with or without success and been in my situation. Is there a way for me to become hair free??

Firstly talk to your GP if you haven’t.

I’ve always plucked my chin hairs and eyebrows. My chin hairs were thick black whiskers. Like a beard but not a full one. I bought myself a great pair of tweezers and a mirror with magnification and lighting. Over time my chin hair has gotten lighter and less strong.

I used to be paranoid about it but I realised people can’t actuallu see it unless they are in my face.

I use an electrologist every 6 months or so to get rid of hair on my upper lip and chin - only become an issue since onset of menopause. Works very well for me. Each follicle has 3 hairs and only seems to kill the actively growing hair so can take a few treatments for each trouble spot to disappear. Then hormones attack another follicle and I start again... I don't have thick or particularly dark hair, just long wispies like old Chinamen in museum photos LOL

Even though you dont have PCOS, it still could be hormonal. I suggest getting a referral to an endochronologist.
