Just curious who is actually better off on the new child care subsidy opposed to the old CCB & CCR? We are a family with two full time working parents and it hasn’t seemed to make a difference for us, we have two kids, one goes three full days a week and other child goes two days a week to before school care!

You sound just like me. 2 working parents, 1 kid in kindergarten (not school in qld) 3 days per week and with grandma the other 2 and the other 3 days before school care. I'm marginally worse off but it's possible that's influenced by fee changes with the new financial year. The fact is, the people that were significantly disadvantaged in the previous scheme were those who had kids 5 days a week and only got the 50 percent one and didn't get the other because it was capped at 7500 so for part of each financial year they paid full fees and probably worked for peanuts. It's those people that will notice the difference.
I work off LOADS better!
I’m studying. Full time, work place hours over 500 necessary to finish and gain employment.
I budgeted from 2 years before starting the course knowing how much Childcare would cost so I had saved it up ready to pay.
It has eaten through my savings with me thinking id be pulling my child out of care and relying on my elderly grandparents to watch him for the last 240 hours. With the new subsidy, I pay only 5% of the cost!! And all 100 hours avail.
I work out $300 a fortnight better off!!!
Once I work, I’ll obviously pay more, but for a single mum who was working her butt off to gain employment I’m absolutely thrilled!!
And yes, I’ve already had job offers!
This is awesome!
Well it's not like we get a choice!
We work out the same - although week to week worse off as they withhold 5% (but tax time will be like a forced saving) and the centre fee increase. Luckily I work part time so we won’t go near the $10,000 cap. I feel for Sydney based centres though with the hourly rate being capped meaning you don’t get your percentage off the total fees!
