My ex MIL used to be full of remarks and comparing me all the time to herself or her own daughter. I started questioning it all and acting intrigued. Once she looked in my fridge and saw it had not been cleaned in a while, then stated how she cleaned her fridge weekly. I said, really? Was that before I met you? ( I had known her for 20 years at this point and I have never known her to have a clean fridge).
Don't stand there and take her crap put her in her place, ignoring it doesn't work especially when they are a part of your family and you have to put up with them for many years. You will just end up with a lot of built up anger and thats not healthy.
Yes she is constantly saying things to put me down. Acts like a child at times and it’s been going on for a few years now. I am at the point where I don’t want to be anywhere near her.
We can't really advise without knowing what is happening. There's ways to handle things for all different circumstances.
How long has she been in your life? What exactly is she doing?
Without knowing the specifics I'd just say:
Enforce boundaries!
Don't tolerate outright rude or disrespectful treatment!
Let the petty stuff slide!
