Viewing underage internet content

URGENT NEED HELP NOW!

WARNING TRIGGER SUBJECT!

My ex's brother has been arrested and investigated for viewing and or downloading online explicit content involving underage minors (if you get what I mean). The ex and I don't know full details yet of the case as the brother hasnt said anything to him yet. But what he has said doesnt make sense. He said it was an accident and as soon as he saw it he closed it.

My question is do you think this is true? Can the police arrest him and perform an investigation due to accidentally having clicked on something or does there have to be more? The police stated their radar went off at his address for viewing it. Would it have to be more than a 1 time thing for them to become suspicious? And what are the consequences of him doing this?

I need advice so I can support my ex through this tough time as we are still very good friends and he doesn't even know how to look or feel about his brother anymore :(

I think you need more information. Was he looking at teenagers that look like adults or ten year olds?? I can understand how the first one would be an accident. But then there is a lot of devious stuff on the internet you can never be too sure of what you are clicking on, especially porn. I would just take a big breath for the minute, remain calm until you have more information on the circumstances.

The chances of the cops catching him on a one and only quick glance is so unlikely it's laughable. The techno cops can tell the difference between an very quick look at close it. This would be more than likely more than one look for them to bother with an arrest. Building a case takes a hell of a lot of time and research, so....
it's quite normal for people in trouble to minimise there behaviour and lie!

I think for him to get caught he probally had to be a regular user of the site/ sites on question. If one of you attend the first hearing you should get more details about the charges.

OP here...

It was child pornography that was viewed. Whether it was stored on any devices or just watched... I'm not sure.

It’s very hard to just stumble upon it or just accidentally view it for a minute. For it to come up it really has to be searched!!
