Dept collection

I got a weird text from a dept collection company. It just said regarding urgent matter. Didn't say what nor was my name on the message. I'm kinda freaking out alittle. I'm behind on a few payments but nothing big and for only a few weeks and I haven't had any calls or messages about being referred to a dept collection. I've googled complaints and apparently people who called them back started to get constant calls and bullied into giving personal details over. One would asked what it was for and they said they couldn't say till she told them her address and stuff. I deleted the message coz I was worried it was a scam and I've got anxiety and hate stuff like this. Has anyone gotten similar?

I did too. I have no debts i think its a scam. I ignored. If they were legit they will contact me not by text and they will know your name.

If it’s a legitimate debt collection agency you will get a letter in the mail and follow up phone calls not just a random text message unless you have ignored all other correspondence.
And if they do send a text it will at least have your name and what debt it is they are chasing.
This sounds like a scam from what you’ve said

Part of my job is following up on debts and there is no way we would ever send a text msg with no details

But every company is different, you mentioned you’re behind on some payments, have they tried to contact you and you’ve ignored them?

Scam, ignore it.
If something does come in the mail google the company name and call THAT number rather than just the number on the letter.

I once got a legit letter from a debt collection agency for a debt that wasn't mine. It seems even the loan shark businesses fall for scams.

You get a lot ioff warnings from the actual company before dept collectors send you a letter. It will be a scam.

I wouldn't ever pay a debt that didn't have my name on it or the amount and company name in which the debt was referred from.
I had a bill from a video rental store (the store closed down before I could return the DVDs, they legit wanted $1000 for 10 DVDs and supposed late fees 😂😂) Anyway, the debt collection company contacted me and were very clear on which company they were acting on behalf of etc.
This sounds very dodgy!
