Renting out my home -help??!!

I want to rent out our home for 6-12 months (dv - kids and I need a break).
Should I do it as a short stay accom and set up an abn, so I then only declare the actual income I receive from the property?
If I rent it out, centrelink classes the rent as income, even though the rent will pay the mortgage.
Any suggestions?? I will talk to my tax agent, but want to gather real feedback too.
