Tax / Centrelink

We did our tax a few weeks ago and have our returns but I've also been given reimbursement from Centrelink because we must have underestimated for the year. But it seems like an awful lot and I am kind of freaking out that it's wrong (even though we could really do with this money as we do struggle a bit), is there a way this could be wrong, or does lodging your tax help calculate the exact right amount you earned for the year?

I have this too, I actually got reimbursed from centerlink first in July and as I haven't worked in the last financial year advised to centerlink of non lodgement, and only yesterday discovered I have tax sitting in there from when I worked in 2015 to Jan 2016 so I went ahead and claimed my tax back now I'm freaking as I got quite a bit from centerlink opposed to my small sum from tax office :/ and since I advised of non lodgement and have only yesterday actually lodged whilst I was only looking for my super details and made this discovery, well now I'm worried
No idea just thought I'd share that your not alone 😂

Omg I got a massive amount too, half of a home loan deposit!! Don't question it!! They are correct in their balancing of end of financial year once we submit our tax returns. I put my money in a term deposit and finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.
I over estimated and paid a ridiculous amount of kindy fees last financial year so I'm not complaining:)
