Contraception after C-Section

Hi ladies,

I need to go on contraception following a C-Sextion, and am tossing up between Mirena and Implanon.
I've never had either of them, but they seem the most conveinient, especially as I'm not looking to have another child any time soon, if at all.
What's your experience been like with these? I know everyone's different but I'm still interested to hear.

I've been using implanon for almost 7 years without any huge issues.
Some of the side effects can take a while to get used to (especially if you've only used the pill or barrier methods previously and are used to having a pretty regular cycle).
My periods are irregular now, but not in a hugely inconvenient way. I might have one in six months and then a few that are only weeks apart. It's also heightened my PMS symptoms (I get easily irritated, very sore boobs and a bit emotional) but I very rarely get cramps now and periods only last a day or 2 and are very light. So that's a positive.
I'd recommend giving implanon a try before the mirena. It's a less invasive procedure but I would wait until your 6 week post birth check up to have it inserted just to give your hormones a chance to settle, though some hospitals will offer to do the procedure before you go home so it's completely up to you.
