Mature age apprenticeship

I had a child really young and worked as a nanny, as I found it easy and not a lot of stress. Then my child got older I moved up in a different role in childcare and ended up hating it because it just took over my life , my family. I was lucky to have another child 10 years later, so I resigned and have been a stay at home mum for over a year now. Now I'm pregnant again and have had a long time to think about what I want to do with my future. I definitely do not want to go back to my old career and can't imagine myself still being a nanny for many more years. I want a change, but not sure what I want to do. Obviously I have to wait till this next baby is born. I'm in my 30s, so am thinking once this baby is born to look at mature age apprenticeships or study.

Has anyone completely changed careers after working in the same career for so long, I don't really have any experience except working with children and having my own. So I would be completely starting again.

Not my own experience (although I have changed careers, but I had previous qualifications that helped fast-track the change) but I am a midwife and I meet loads of nursing and midwifery students who have similar backgrounds to you. Have been stay at home mums for years or worked in different areas with limited qualifications. The wonderful thing is that university entrance is possible without even finishing high school now - I don't know the details but it's very inspiring to see these women embark on a new career. Having your own pregnancy and parenting experiences can be a huge advantage too, as you have way better understanding, empathy, and maturity than the kids who have just finished high school!
