Amazing advice

I followed all of your great advice and I took the plunge and applied for university online (I am a 25 year old single mum with a toddler) but now I have done that and amazingly been accepted I'm in a panic.

How does everyone fit it into their days?
Is there any start up help with books and so on? Or am I 100% on my own? I'm in qld btw.

I'm super super nervous but also excited! I can't believe I was accepted! Eek!!

Most uni courses do a fair bit of hand holding in the first few lectures. Make sure you go to ALL the information days/lectures, they give you lots of info about extra support available, what writing style you are expected to use (and books that will help you learn that style), and what is classed as acceptable resources etc.
All universities have a study centre where you can get help from tutors. Use it.
Do the library tour.
Do your homework quickly and you will fit it in, put things off and you will find yourself not able to keep up.
I studied psychology with a severely disabled child, held down part time work and got HIgh distinctions basically because I listened, followed instructions and allowed myself plenty of time before things were due so I could really edit my work.

What uni are you going through? What course are you doing?

When I went to Monash many moons ago, the bookshop sold second hand books if that helps. Not sure who could help you out with book costs? If you get them second hand plus I presume you are only doing 4 subjects per semester, it should be affordable. Then next semester you can sell them back, so that will help towards the next lot. I think you are on your own basically, aside from HECS. This was 20 years ago though.

Are you receiving a Centrelink payment such as parenting payment or newstart? You may be eligible for pensioner education supplement, depending on your study load and course. Check the website for more info.
