Starting buisness on Centrelink

Staying a buisness whilst still on Centrelink.

Hi, I'm a single mum on Centrelink and I have a small buisness I want to start up from home. Has anyone done this whilst on single parenting payment ( no child support) any advice? There's absolutely no work around and I know the idea I have will 'take off'
Any POSITIVE. Advice greatly appreciated. I will also be calling them asap, just wanted to check any mums on here first! Thankyou! Xx

I've done it. You have to provide Centrelink with a profit and loss statement every few months which is a bit of a hassle as the statement period doesn't always line up with a normal reporting period. If you are in government housing you will need to provide them with a profit and loss too.
It's a pretty simple P&L but it helps to have some knowledge of basic accounting/book keeping procedures. Especially if you don't want to out lay the money for electronic book keeping

Do a certificate in small business management, either through local TAFE/community college or NEIS program. Conditions of NEIS are pretty restrictive though, and I think the course runs over a shorter time frame, so pretty intense if you've been out of school for awhile!?

As far as earning an income, due to set up costs, including paying for business course, you'll most likely be in the red for the first couple of years, so no affect to your payments. Give them a call to discuss, make an appt if you can. Good luck!
